This is a request for all age group walks for the next programme, which runs from July to October.

The walks co-ordinator for the 20s-40s group is Claire Phillips and walks/queries for this group should be sent to 20s40s-walks@bahr.org.uk.

The walks co-ordinator for the 40s-50s group is Sue Jones and walks/queries for this group should be sent to 40s50s-walks@bahr.org.uk.

The walks co-ordinator for the main group is Geoff James and walks/queries for this group should be sent to programme@bahr.org.uk.

 

Walks can be led by anyone who is a member of the Ramblers – this is necessary as our public liability insurance does not cover walks that are led by non-members.

There is no special training needed to lead a walk, just pick a walk and send it in. Also you could team up with a regular walk leader to get some practice – just ask!

Walks don't have to made up from scratch - you can pick ones from books or the internet for instance. They do not have to be all day walks - we have had some morning/afternoon ones as well, in order to encourage new walkers. Have a look at an old programme on the website to get an idea if you are unsure. The sooner you get the walk in, the more likely you are to get the date you want. It would be nice to see a few new leaders - you don't have to do one every programme!


On Sundays, 20-40s walks normally start at 10am at the Level. It helps if 40-50s walks and main group walks that begin at the Level (i.e. using cars) could start at different times to avoid confusion.

We also encourage using buses or trains, starting at Brighton station or a local bus stop, or in some cases leaders may specify a destination accessible by train or bus. 

We now have a programme template in the Leaders section of the website, please e-mail back to Claire, Sue or Geoff as appropriate, making sure you state under the brief description which group the walk is for. Please try to make the longer description reasonably concise to keep the programme readable (look at the programme on the website to get an idea). Also please include grid references otherwise someone has to look them up!

When submitting walks, please let us have your Ramblers membership number in the column provided, as all walk leaders need to be members in order that we are all covered under the insurance.
