This 11½ mile walk is from the picturesque East Sussex village of Mayfield and takes us through the undulating countryside of the High Weald. It features some attractive stretches of woodland and crosses the Deer Park next to scenic Wadhurst Lake.

I shall meet everyone in Mayfield public car park, which is located down the narrow Holders Lane, off the High Street. You will find it signposted on the right just past the imposing Grade 1 listed Middle House Inn (the pub’s post code is TN20 6AB). Please arrive before 10.30am, as it is important that the walk begins on time.

We will be having a late picnic lunch by the lake, so bring along sufficient food and drink. Alternatively, it may be possible to buy something on the day from the Mace store in the High Street. You need to do this prior to starting the walk.

The Middle House Inn will be open for anyone wanting a drink or a meal when we return.

Kindly post a comment here or preferably on the BAHR 30s-50s Meetup Site if you are able to offer any members a lift from the south end of Preston Park, Brighton (near to the Rose Garden) for a latest 9.30am departure. The journey should take around 45 minutes. Expenses are shared between the driver and passengers at the rate of 30p per mile.

I hope that you will be able to join me on the walk.

P.S. There are usually some free spaces in the High Street if the car park happens to be full.
