Hi Everyone
East Sussex County Council is asking people to tell them how they use, or don't use, the Rights of Way and certain Countryside sites that they manage.  They intend to use this information to draw up a plan for managing RoW and these Sites in the future, no doubt with a smaller budget and fewer resources available.  So the more people who contribute the better, not only to help get messages across but also to show the greatest possible interest by walkers in what will happen.  As we regularly walk in East Sussex, this will affect us!
The Council is collecting this information through two surveys.  One is for Stakeholder Groups and I have submitted a response on behalf of Brighton & Hove Ramblers as requested at our last Committee meeting.
The other survey is for individual Users to complete and you can find it at: consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/haveyoursay/consult_view.
Most of the information is gathered through tick boxes, but I added two comments as follows:
Q3 - Other: Socialising with friends.
Q7 - Other comments about RoW: The future plan for RoW must include sufficient resources to add currently unmapped historic paths to the Definitive Map before the deadline on 1 January 2026.
Please feel free to express similar views if you agree with them.
The survey is not time-consuming and submissions are required by 20th February.  ESCC intends to consult on its new plan later this year and put it into action from April 2016.
I hope you will be able to contribute.
Best regards
Geoff Cook
