Mission accomplished: dozens of orchids seen today

After visiting the Saxon church at Pycombe, this three miles walk took the group up into the mist and low cloud. Black cows and calves loomed into view and took no notice of us. New to the hill was a group of young steers, which were inquisitive and stood and stared as we walked amongst them.

With no views, the group posed at the trig’ point on the summit

They were quick to spot groups of tiny exquisite Autumn Lady's tresses on the west-facing slopes of Wolstonbury Hill this morning.

That's it now for orchids until the Early-purples emerge next spring.

What is next for nature walks?  Migrant birds: our coasts are teaming with them now.

Some of the paths in the above link are now under the sea at Medmerry.  The bus journey and linear walk Selsey to or from the RSPB centre is a favourite of mine.  The direction depends on the tide times to avoid wet feet.  I might do this at short notice depending on the weather.  Let me know if you would like to join this bird watching nature walk.
