This walk is 10.5 miles long and takes us through the attractive central and southern areas of the Ashdown Forest. There are some wonderful distant views from the higher ground on a clear day. We will be stopping for lunch in Fairwarp at The Foresters Arms, or bring your own picnic to have on the village green.

All of the pre-reserved places for the pub lunch are taken. However, this could change if anyone notifies us that they need to cancel. Our lunchtime stop should not normally last longer than 60-70 minutes, although it does depend on how quickly the food is served.

We will be walking approximately 6.75 miles before lunch and then 3.75 miles afterwards. The terrain is undulating with around 1500 feet of ascent and descent. The longest continuous uphill section is in the afternoon. It was firm underfoot along the route last Saturday, but settled weather is not in the current forecast, so be prepared that some of the paths may quickly become muddy and slippery in the event of rain. The pace of the walk is classed as moderate (M) rather than leisurely (L).

The closest postcode TN22 3PJ is nearly 0.4 miles south west of the starting point, so take note if using a SatNav. Car sharing is being arranged via Meetup. Please allow sufficient time to get to the ‘Millbrook East’ car park on the A22, as we have to begin the walk promptly from there at 10.15am. NB. Parking is also available in the ‘Millbrook West’ car park on the opposite side of the road.

Click here for further details, this saves repeating everything already set out in the programme.

We hope to see some of you on our walk.

Cheers
