High Salvington Walk - Saturday, 22nd September

I have shortened this walk slightly so it is now 14Km (8.7miles) and changed the pub to "The World's End". The morning is still a good length over undulating downland (not steep) with wonderful views and the afternoon is shorter with a gentle, shady climb up through woods. The pace will be slightly more leisurely than originally anticipated but I hope to finish at about 3.15pm.

Ramblers Walking Trip: Castleton Derbyshire Peak District National Park October 29th 2018.

I have already  booked my accommodation for a short week's walking in the Peak District National Park this Autumn and invite any Brighton and Hove Ramblers to join me.

I am basing walks from Castleton which gives easy access by public transport to the White Peak and the Dark Peak and is a good base with a decent hostel (Losehill Hall YHA- several single and twin rooms still available!) and a variety of B+B and hotel options to suit most budgets! There are a range of pubs for eating…

Meeting time 9:20, Start time 10:30

Moderate 9 miles / 14.5 km (Estimated finish time: 14:30)

We prewalked this route last week and it has a little bit of everything- far more varied than a glance at the map would suggest- but only two small hills. There is one slightly soft/overgrown stretch but it is otherwise on good tracks and paths- you may want long socks or trousers unless you are very hardy.

Bring a…

High Weald Walking Festival : 15 - 23 September 2018

Please support the first High Weald Walking Festival. The High Weald lies on the eastern edge of the South Downs National Park and we often have walks there. The programme has been put together entirely by volunteers - including several members of Sussex Area committee - on a shoestring budget of £750. What they have produced is fantastic: 36 walks of all types and distances from a 2 mile stroll to a 9.5 mile ramble. There really is something for everyone!

The intention/hope is to…
