Since there is a gap in the Wednesday evening walks schedule , I'd like to try re-run the Fulking - Poynings circular that I cancelled at the last minute on the 18th July.
The walk is approximately 4 miles long and starts at the Shepherd & Dog pub in Fulking. It continues on the flat to Poynings, then climbs up to Devils Dyke before descending back into Fulking. Meet 7pm at The South Side Of Preston Park, or 7.30pm at the Shepherd and Dog pub. Btw, desserts at the Shepherd &…Continue

For (maybe) one week only, it seems that Summer has finally arrived!!
Come along and enjoy a midweek evening walk in the sunshine this Wednesday 25th July. We will be walking around the Isfield area of Sussex between Lewes and Uckfield. Approximately 4 miles of fairly flat countryside followed by a drink in the pub afterwards. We meet at the south end of Preston Park (by the rose garden near Rotunda cafe) at 7pm.
See you there!

Just a quick note to say we will meet at the edge of the Rose Garden (by the Rotunda cafe on the South Side of Preston Park) at 7pm this evening instead of 6.45pm mentioned on the programme. The walk will start from the Shepherd and Dog pub in Fulking at 7.30pm.
P.S. Don't wear a rose to identify yourself, they'll be too many of them about!

It is just possible that some rain might fall prior to and in the course of the walk. Should the precipitation be unfeasibly heavy then it will be possible to shorten the walk to about 5.5 miles rather than 9. Assuming that we do the full distance then it might be an idea to bring a snack for a lunch break.

Due to the forecast of heavy showers throughout the day on the island, this walk has been postponed until Saturday August 25th. The walk is fairly exposed with no tree cover, so a fine day is needed to justify the train and ferry cost. The public programme on the website is being amended to show the change, and I shall be at Brighton Station tomorrow morning to cancel the walk.

That was a most enjoyable walk and surprisingly not as muddy as it might have been
Have uploaded the map to gpsies and removed the 4 mile glitch :)
Looks like there is a button to download map to Garmin - I don't have a Garmin so can't test that.
Popped into the Hare and Hounds at Preston Circus and there was full…Continue

There was also a 'slight' typo in the reminder for the Glynde walk, it should read 'See you at 10.30am on Sunday!'
Altho the extra half hour in bed would have been nice ....

As Jimi Hendrix might say , there is a 'slight' change of leader this Sunday. Because Maggie has unfortunately damaged a ligament, I will be leading the programmed BAHR walk to the Glynde Food & English wine festival ( moved from the Saturday for anyone following it on www.crowdedpier.co.uk)
The walk to Glynde will start at Lewes Station at 10.30am , we will then enjoy 2-3 hours at the festival (incorporating lunch)…Continue

If you hadn't spotted it before, there is a ferocious (Rambler eat Rambler) race on this Sunday between the 20-40s and the 40s-50s walking groups to get fed at the Juggs pub in Kingston before it runs out of grub at lunchtime ...
It's every man for himself , one for one, or all for nothing as the Four Musketeers might have put it!
However there is another way... we are going to (very reluctantly) combine walks in the morning and book (in a civilised fashion) our combined group…Continue
