A shorter afternoon walk. The walk starts at 2pm and, with half an hour or so at the Chattri, we should return by 4.30pm.
Rather unusually there won’t be any pubs or tea shops on this walk – so please bring any food and drink that you want! There will be some mud following the recent weather so be prepared!
We’ll be meeting where the walk starts and finishes. This is near the recreation ground in Patcham (just off Vale Avenue where it does a right angle turn at…

To all walkers. From May I will be renting out my little village house perched on a mountside in the Alpujarras, Southern Spain. It can sleep up to 7 people and has a most stunning view in an unspoilt Spanish village. Wonderful walking all year round. Only £250- 350 depending on season. Please contact me for full details - teresalipson@hotmail.com

As the conditions underfoot for tomorrow's walk at Barcombe Cross will be slushy snow, ice and a considerable amount of mud, I have decided to postpone it until the next walk programme. Walking in these conditions would be difficult and arduous - not much fun! So, as a last minute alternative, I will be at Preston Park station at 9.30am in the morning as usual and will then walk down through Preston Park to the Rotunda Cafe for a morning cuppa and cake. If you feel like joining me, I will…

Dear all
Hard to believe I know with the remains of snow on the ground but it is time to compile the spring/early summer 20s - 40s walks programme.
Usual drill - please submit your walk to me using the gird below to 20s40s-walks@bahr.org.uk (it would be great if you did…

Dear all
Although the roads in town are fine, I am not sure about those further out. As there is more snow forecast tomorow and as I have no wish to see anyone slide down a Seven Sister, off a cliff and into the sea so I am cancelling the walk.
I will run the full version in the next programme.
Keep warm.
Best wishes.
Claire

Due to current weather conditions I am sorry to announce that Sunday's (20th Jan) walk is cancelled. With temperatures not due to rise above freezing and with a layer of snow I think it would be difficult going both driving to the Ashdown Forest and walking/navigating. I will of course lead this walk later in the year when hopefully many of you will join in an enjoyable ramble through some beautiful scenery.

Dear all
Just to let you know I have shortened the walk a little on Sunday as I had forgotten how long it takes to get to Friston - it is now about 6.5 - 7 miles and only takes in 4.5 of the sisters but still enough up and down bits to help towards your New Year keep fit resolutions........and a pub lunch afterwards to help you recover.
The parking is not brilliantly signposted - turn right (assuming you approaching from Brighton) immediately after the pond,…

40-50s - Walking In the Lakes - June 2013
I plan to run a walking break in the lakes in June based in Keswick.
Assisted by my brother we are happy to lead walks for 5 days from Thursday 20th to Monday 24th June. We will offer a list of moderate/ easy to challenging walks over the five days. The degree of difficulty is not about distance walked ( all will be relatively short on miles ) but on height gained. ALL walks in the lakes are weather dependant, if torrential…

Following last week's muddy escapade (thanks, Anthony!), and because the Arun valley at Houghton is still waterlogged, I've decided to vary the route this Thursday. THE START LOCATION REMAINS THE SAME. But the new 7-mile route will now take in Houghton Forest and Bignor Hill, via Monarch's Way and the SDW. It offers fine forest walking, stunning downland views, and is relatively mud-free (well it was on the pre-walk last weekend!). Hope to see you there.

Hope to see some of you on this walk tomorrow. It will be cold with an easterly wind so please have warm clothing - there may be rain/snow1 However, there are some ups and downs so that should keep us warm and there is always The Juggs at the end.
