Join me for a lovely walk from Berwick to Lewes through Selmeston and Alciston and then up the bostal path to the South Downs Way, descending into Firle and then to Glynde for a late lunch (approx. 1.30pm) at the Trevor Arms or picnic nearby. As the lunch is late, please bring snacks if required. Option to end walk here and catch the train- 8 miles).
After lunch up towards Mount Caburn and then to Lewes. Great views! 12 mile walk with 2 climbs.
Boring bit- this is a public transport walk and the trains are infrequent so make sure you leave enough time to buy your tickets – Train departs Brighton station at 9. 20am. Cheapest option is to buy a return to Lewes (£4.90) and a single from Lewes to Berwick (£4.30). I will be at the station at 9.05am and from 9.15 will be on the train. For car drivers, park at Lewes station (£2 for the day) and catch the train, the train we are on leaves Lewes at 9:32 am, bear in mind they are only one an hour.
