30s-50s Goring - Findon Circular: Sunday 18th October - Flying Saucers, Flint & Findon

This week we start at sea-level at Goring-by-Sea and climb 400 ft. to the Downs with magnificent views to the sea before descending to the charming village of Findon for lunch. There is a choice of 2 pubs or picnic on the village green. After lunch we head for Clapham village passing by Findon Manor and neolithic flint mines, for which this area was once famed, and through Clapham Wood once notorious for UFO sightings and satanic worship! Sadly I witnessed neither just some very contented sheep though I suppose they might have been aliens disguised as sheep! Please note that the walk is 11.75 miles with a few gentle but longish climbs.

Getting there: Brighton Station 09:43 train arriving Goring 10:15. I'll join you at Hove. Let's meet up in the first/front carriage. The walk will start at 10:30 from the station car park (£2). Alternative parking on nearby roads.

Return: frequent trains to Brighton: '17, '27, '46 each hour

Hope to see you!
