This is an attractive undulating walk of approximately 12½ miles through the wooded north western area of the Ashdown Forest, including the remarkable Chelwood Vachery.

We begin from the 'Churlwood' car park on the A275, Lewes Road, between Chelwood Gate and Wych Cross. Parking there is free, although space is limited, so car sharing is advisable.

Kindly post a comment on the BAHR 30s-50s Meetup Site if you are able to offer any members a lift from the south end of Preston Park, Brighton (near to the Rose Garden) for a latest 9.25am departure. The journey from there should take less than 40 minutes, but arrange to leave a bit earlier if you are not sure of how to find the 'Churlwood' car park. We will be meeting everyone at the starting point and our aim is to set off at 10.15am.

Lunch will in Forest Row with a choice of pubs and cafés, or you could have a picnic beside the church. Ideally, our stop will be for less than 75 minutes.

It should be noted that the walk is unsuitable for dogs.

Please click here and then RSVP if you wish to join us. For practical reasons we need to cap the number of people going on our walk, and this will result in a waiting list if more than 25 people respond. Regrettably, BAHR has not been able to find anyone to lead a second walk this Sunday. More leaders are required in order to prevent this from becoming a regular disappointment. Send an email to 30s50s-walks@bahr.org.uk with any offers of help.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
