This is a hilly circular walk of approximately 13 miles between Alfriston and Seaford, with a variety of terrains and some excellent views of downland and the coast.

Lunch will be in Seaford, where there is a choice of cafés, pubs and shops. Our stop is likely to be sometime around 1.30pm and last for about 65 minutes. We will afterwards reassemble outside Tesco Express in Sutton Park Road for the shorter return leg of the walk.

One section of our route back to Alfriston is through Greenway Bottom. This was a grassy track along an attractive valley, until it was recently ruined by the farmer ploughing up the entire area. The usual requirement is for the path to be re-instated within 14 days, but if this has not happened, then expect a mile of possibly tough going over the fields.

A few of the descents are rather steep and care is therefore necessary, especially in damp conditions. Fortunately, the weather is currently forecast to sunny over the weekend, although this sounds a bit too good to be true!

It must be noted that many of the roads in and around Brighton will be closed because of the Marathon, including our regular meeting point near to the Rose Garden at the South end of Preston Park. Kindly post a comment on the BAHR 30s-50s Meetup Site if you are able to offer any members a lift from another location, also stating time of departure. We will be meeting everyone at the starting point in North Road, by Alfriston School. The walk needs to begin at 10.15am, so please ensure that you manage to arrive on time.

We hope that some of you will join us and people from Brighton can find a way past the road closures this Sunday.
