30s-50s Harting Down Circular - Sunday 22nd May 2016

I hope you can join me for a lovely walk across the less travelled (for B&HR) western Downs. The walk boasts stunning views of Harting Down, meandering paths through idylic woodland and lush, verdant valleys. 30s-50s Storrington and Amberley Circular - CHANGES

Due to heavy rainfall and high winds, I have had to change several parts of the walk today. Please be aware that some road walking is now inevitable and that suitable wet weather Clothing and WALKING FOOTWEAR with good grips is critical.

30s-50s Storrington and Amberley Circular - Sunday 10th January 2016

Should be a lovely walk from Storrington, along a lovely stretch of the SDW along the then back through Amberley along the lower paths including a section of the West Sussex Literary Trail and then back through the picturesque stately home, Parham House, Park.

30s-50s Whiteways Forest and Downs Circular - Sunday 20th September

I hope several of you are looking forward to the Whiteways (near Arundel) walk on Sunday. It should be a lovely lush woodland ending with a gorgeous stretch of the SDW and several great vistas. There are very few hill climbs, although it is definitely not flat, and no real mud either. There is however, one gentle but long hill, rather lusciously named the Gumber. 30s-50s Harting Down Circular Sunday 5th July

This lovely walk combining stunning views across the spectacular Downs of mid-Sussex, beautiful dappled shaded woods and gentle rolling hills will undoubtedly end your week off on a high (even if it is a bit of a trek to get there!). There are two steeper climbs at the end, but the views are well worth it! Dear all who were going. It is with a heavy heart that I must cancel my walk around the stunning Harting Down tomorrow as I have injured my ankle and just couldn't manage it. 30s-50s Devils Dyke, Tottington and Poynings Circular on Sunday 22nd March

This should be a  most pleasant walk along the SDW with gorgeous views (weather permitting) from the Dyke, Edburton Hill and Truleigh Hill. We will then descend onto the picturesque spring villages valley area of Tottington and walk through Longlands Wood to Fulking. Lunch will be here, where there are 12 places for a late pub lunch at the Shepherd and Dog or a very nice picnic park area. We will be returning via Poynings with a treat at the end in the form of a relatively steep climb back…

Wepham Down Circular update

Thank you tons to Julie for reminding me that it is the London to Brighton cycle ride on Sun. I believe she is right that anyone coming by car would be caught up in complicated road closures etc if they went from the Level. Her suggestion of people meeting up (hopefully with several cars) at the King Alfred Leisure Centre on the seafront, 

15 mins south of Hove Train Station, sounds good. Please could you comment here if you are wonderfully helpful…
